Efter: Chelsea – United

United åkte till London och förlorade mot Chelsea och Martin Atkinson. Precis som i lagens båda ligamöten förra säsongen gynnades Chelsea av horribla domslut och eftersnacket kom till stor del att handla om den patetiska domarinsatsen.

KOMMENTARER EFTER MATCHEN
Sir Alex Ferguson sågade domare Atkinson efter matchen. Atkinson var svag och mellan raderna anar vi att Ferguson tycker att domaren gynnade Chelsea. Vidare erkände han att han fruktade det värsta när han såg att Atkinson, som svarade för en fiaskoinsats i motsvarande match förra säsongen, skulle döma:

“You hope you get a really strong referee in games like this. It was a major game for both clubs and you want a fair referee, you know. You want a strong referee, anyway, and we didn’t get that. […] I don’t know why he’s got the game. I must say that, when I saw who was refereeing it, I feared the worst.”

Straffen som Chelsea fick tycker Ferguson var mycket billig samtidigt som han menar att Luiz borde ha blivit utvisad:

“The penalty kick was so soft.

“It was incredible. I don’t know how [Luiz is] on the pitch. Even before that [first foul on Rooney] he’d done Chicharito off the ball, late. Nothing’s done and the referee’s in front of it. He’s then done Rooney, clear as day, and he’s six yards from him. Doesn’t do anything.”

Ferguson menar att domarens beslut förändrade matchen och kommenterar att Atkinson trots dåliga beslut får fortsätta att döma varje vecka. Han var stolt över lagets insats och menar att hans spelare förtjänar bättre domslut. Vidare säger Ferguson att Chelsea är en faktor att räkna med om laget fortsätter att få domaren på sin sida och han kommenterade att det var tredje året i rad som domslut avgjort till Chelseas fördel i lagens matcher på Stamford Bridge:

“These decisions change the game, and he’s going to be refereeing every week. I was proud of my players. They’ve endured a lot of decisions against them, they’ve carried themselves through it, done their best, created chances with good football, and didn’t deserve that.

“If [Chelsea] keep getting decisions like tonight, it could change everything. They got a lot of decisions in a major game and that surprised me. It’s been three years in a row now down here. It’s hard to take.”

Annars fokuserade Ferguson på framtiden, han menar att söndagens match mot Liverpool är mycket viktig och att det gäller för United att vara redo. Efter en förlust måste man återhämta sig och prestera bättre:

“We’ve got to gather ourselves together as we always do. When you lose a game you’ve got to recover and do better in the next game and get a result. It’s always a massive game between Manchester United and Liverpool. It’ll be the same again, we just have to recover and get ourselves ready for it.”

Chelseas manager, Carlo Ancelotti, erkände att Luiz hade tur som inte blev utvisad:

“There was a lot of intensity and it was not easy for the referee to decide every time. David Luiz could be lucky but there was a lot going on on the pitch so the referee decided he didn’t see this.”

Michael Carrick var inte lika kritisk mot domaren som sin manager men menar ändå att det är svårt att ta en förlust som kommer efter att man har fått de avgörande domsluten mot sig. Carrick tycker annars att United gjorde en utmärkt första halvlek men inte klarade av att prestera lika bra i andra. Till sist valde Carrick att fokusera på nästa match och påpekar att United brukar återhämta sig bra:

“Some decisions didn’t go our way and we’re on the end of a defeat, which is very hard to take. Big decisions play a huge part in games. You’ve got to get them right, especially in a game of this importance, so we’re disappointed. What can I say apart from that? It’s hard to take.

“It’s disappointing [to lose], especially after the way we played in the first half. We were in control. Second half we weren’t as quick and decisive in our passing, but we still felt quite comfortable and I thought we might score again.

“At the moment we feel pretty down, but we can move on quickly. We have to. We’re used to doing that and we’re usually good at it; hopefully we bounce back again. We have to forget it and move on. It’s a huge game on Sunday and we’ll be ready for it. We take positives from the game and look to put things right that didn’t go well.”

Den förre domaren Graham Poll var inte nöjd med Atkinsons insats och menar att domaren kostade United matchen. Poll pekar pÃ¥ att Atkinson tycktes favorisera Chelsea i samtliga stora beslut under matchen – han tycker att Chelseas straff var billig men korrekt, dock skulle United ha fÃ¥tt en straff i första halvlek och Luiz skulle självklart ha fÃ¥tt en andra varning, nÃ¥got Nemanja Vidic inte slapp undan:

“Referees are remembered for their big decisions in big games. Unfortunately Martin Atkinson got some wrong on Tuesday night and they cost Manchester United. Atkinson failed to deliver consistency in similar incidents, the basic requirement for match officials.

“In the first half, Manchester United were denied a penalty when John Terry handled a shot from distance. Although his hands were by his side, the ball travelled a long way and Terry ensured that the ball did not pass – a clear offence. Nothing was given. However, when Yury Zhirkov took the opportunity to go over Chris Smalling’s outstretched leg, Atkinson had no hesitation in awarding the home team a spot kick. It was soft, but just about the correct call.

“An even clearer example came when David Luiz deliberately tripped Wayne Rooney off the ball – a clear cautionable offence. As he had already been cautioned, Luiz should have been dismissed. Nemanja Vidic was not afforded such tolerance later in the game.”

Den konspiratoriskt lagda noterar att Chelseas resultat när Martin Atkinson dömer är extremt bra. Atkinson har dömt Chelsea 18 gånger, 16 av dessa matcher har slutat med seger för Chelsea. Endast en gång har Atkinson dömt en match där Chelsea förlorat och det var i den i stort sett meningslösa Community Shield.

Sir Ryan Giggs gjorde sin 606:e ligamatch för United och tangerade därmed Sir Bobby Charltons rekord.

Nemanja Vidic blev utvisad efter två gula kort och blir därmed avstängd en match, mot Liverpool på söndag. Då Rio Ferdinand och Jonny Evans också är borta (p.g.a. skador) har Ferguson aviserat att Wes Brown kommer att bilda mittbackspar tillsammans med Chris Smalling.
