The Mirror: Wayne Rooney wants to quit Manchester United after being left “angry and confused” by new Old Trafford boss David Moyes.
England ace Rooney feels he is being driven out of the club after five months of negativity which is tantamount to “constructive dismissal”.
And Moyes’ suggestion that the Scouse star is effectively no more than an understudy to Robin van Persie was the final straw for Rooney, who believes Chelsea would be his perfect fit.
The Times (£ för att läsa allt): Manchester United will not be bullied into selling Wayne Rooney despite the England striker’s anger and confusion at the club’s public declaration that he is behind Robin van Persie in the pecking order and unlikely to get a new contract this summer.
Independent: The Rooney source said that the player considered himself to be “at the peak of his career” and had “no intention of letting that career go backwards” as a squad player or second-choice player. “He doesn’t believe he has anything to prove as a player after nine successful years at Old Trafford. Yet that is what seems to have been suggested by media reports which interpret the club… as meaning he is on trial for the season.”
The Sun: Chelsea will have to cough up £80million to grab Wayne Rooney from Manchester United. The Londoners are on red alert after the Rooney camp last night made it clear their man wants OUT of Old Trafford. Blues boss Jose Mourinho is aware Rooney wants a five-year deal and £200,000 a week to leave the Premier League champs. In addition to that £52m package, Chelsea would have to stump up £28m for his transfer fee.
Daily Mail: Rooney has let it be known that he is furious with Moyes’ suggestions that he may be back-up to Robin van Persie and is more determined than ever to leave Old Trafford.
The Stamford Bridge club are set to pounce amid claims that Rooney is growing increasingly unsettled at United.
The England striker is said to be angry at suggestions that he will have to prove his worth over the next 12 months before the club will discuss a new deal.
Rooney, whose existing contract only has two years to run, is also thought to be confused, with suggestions he is to play second fiddle to Robin van Persie with Japanese star Shinji Kagawa set for the role behind the former Arsenal striker, a position Rooney favours.
I fejset.
